Oxitosin was discovered to have this role in bonding because some scientists were doing a survey of the rodents that lived around the university. So when you give a prairie vol a burst of oxitosin, which they get through ting, they learn to associate that rewarding feeling with their partner and that drives them to want to spend more time with their partner. And i don't think there are any other rodents that are monogamous, that form bonds between two individuals and stay toge at least while they're raising their young. It's not just the chemicals we have in our brains - it's also the receptors and where they are in our brains as well. This is brilliant
