What if the Army Did Nothing?
The army certainly over reacted, but also showed a remarkable restraint. It's very hard to become independent, actually more difficult than it seems. The president was as a former communist, and he was generally moderate politician. He unquestionably supported an independent sylvenian state,. But thatmy not have been the case of everybody. And then for the rest of the new borders, which was more complex in terms of ethnic mix, would have to be drawn one way or another.
