Do You Have a Hermetic Build?
Having no external dependencies that aren't tracked by the build system and your version control system. If you have headers and not SOs installed and the product that you're working on depends on those, you're deeply not hermetic. It's a habit that I think we have to learn to break. Having developer packages installed on your machine was valuable for hobby stuff when you're not really coordinating with a lot of other people. But one of the things that we do have to sort of give up is, yeah, it can't just be whatever you happen to have laying around. We need to actually have a bill of materials. That is a distinct and direct tension with having more hermetic builds
