The Support of the Repressive Apparatus and the Media
Part of the reason why we are in these deeper or though not necessarily more durable after a authoritarian episode right now in Peru has to do with the support of the repressive apparatus. The armed forces and the police who have traditionally leaned, let's say, right or have had a narrative that has had the left as enemies or potential enemies. So just with those two pieces with repression and with the media, you have very strong allies that Castillo did not have. And there is seems to be a very conscious decision by the most important media outlets not to publicize abuses aren't investigated too much.
