The Importance of Story Mapping

We don't work in that linear way anymore the way I see it. We work agile which means that we've worked together with the team all along. At some point you're always going to have a launch date. The only way you'll know what to launch is if you know the business goals and you know how to get there. And story mapping and prioritization and chopping bits out without disturbing the integrity of your story is exactly right.
