You've got to believe that dozens of people were deliberately lying and concealing that right to the end of their lives which in some cases were very long when there was long since no reason to carry on like that. It doesn't really seem to fit in with Hitler's personality this idea of trying to survive and escape that doesn't really fit in with how he conducted the war or anything else about his political trajectory really.
