Paper Money and the Ming Dynasty

The Ming Chinese paper money wasn't anything that would fit in your wallet it was the size of an A4 or letter size sheet of paper. The government faced the same problem with counterfeiters that the Yuan dynasty rulers faced. They printed a considerable reward right on the paper note to anyone who informed on counterfeiters. There was also a stern warning regarding the fate that awaited any counterfeiters so the treasure note control bureau was formed in 1374 and they had the first Ming bake notes in circulation by 1375.
