The Importance of Positivity in Social Problems
I think one of the things that started to fill me with unease in these spaces was what felt like an empty positivity. And I think you're talking about both the limitations of our sense of the potential for darkness in ourselves, as well as in others. You can't talk about the struggles that women have to be full and equal members of society without talking about what men do. It's true for many kinds of problems in the world, but it fails to describe a lot of problems which are people having power that is unearned or blocking other people's chance to live a good life.
