'Tin Watches With Dildos'

William Chaloner was a formidable character, but he wasn't of a mind to starve. His biographer describes him as making tin watches with dildos in them. Dildos at that time had two common meanings: decoration and what you think it is. The Museum of London told me they were pewter objects, not tin.
