The point of steal like an artist is to get people in that mode of actively looking for influence and then taking that influence. It's really about taking a process that we're all kind of, we do subconsciously anyway, but is usually pitched as a bad thing. If you put 100 influences together, if you rip off one author, it's plagiarism. If you rip off 100 authors, it's research. And then, you know, mashing it all up together and then transforming it into something new was really the point of stealing like an artist.
