The Importance of Exercise and Patient Education in Hip-Preserving Surgery

About half of all patients in the outpatient clinic at all university hospitals were not candidates for hip-preserving surgery. They really had a very small treatment option at the hospital and we did not have any evidence what kind of treatment should be offered to these patients. So first we did a feasibility study investigating an exercise and patient education intervention in 30 participants. We found that both it was feasible and also acceptable for the patients to do exercise and get this patient education. At the same time while Lisa is running her RCT on surgery compared with progressive resistance training, our goal is 200 participants.
