The Importance of Editing a Manuscript
After more than two decades together, Lewis died in 1878. What impact did his death have on Elliot? Well, as we can imagine and understand, she was devastated by the loss of Lewis. She felt like her world had ended. But then she gradually tried to rebuild her life. One thing that's quite moving is that in the weeks and months after Lewis died, she really focused on editing his last manuscript for publication.
