Joe Lai and the Geneva Conference in 1954
The Geneva Conference in 1954 was Joe's first major foray onto the world stage as premier and foreign minister of China. The conference ran from April 26th to July 20th, 1954. He arrived with an oversized staff of about 200. For a forum such as this, Joe seized the opportunity to offer some on-the-job training to many young and experienced but up-and-coming foreign ministry staffers. They might learn a thing or two from someone like Joe and Lai.
