Herb Duchen Palsy
A mother presents to the doctor with her eight day old infant because he is holding his right arm in an odd posture. He was borne by emergency se saction for shoulder dissotia, but is otherwise healthy. This injury does not occur at the frequency of erbducen palsy. These patients will likely require nerve transfers and tennon transfers. Active elbow flexion in biceps function is a reliable indicator of nerve recovery. Rist factors for brachial plexus injury include macrosomia, multi parous pregnancies,. previous pregnancies with plexus injuries and breach or difficult deliveries.
