Soviet Union Collapsed?
The soviet union collapsed because it was based on principles which, at the end of the 20 century, were inappropriate for the needs of the moment. The very existence of a liberal outside world undermined people's faith in themselves. And garbachov talked about our common european home. Now you cannot imagine a chinese leader talk about our common EU home. That is, the west mattered, not because what it said, but what it was. So no, regan did not bring down the soviet Union. Times change. I something which you could do in the 19 twenties, you could not do in the19 nineties.
