It really does seem fitting that this feeling of america running out of new frontiers on to which it can displace and provisionally reconcile the contradictions is becoming so visurally apparent right now with the housing crisis. So to put some of your last answer in deeper context, what are these ideas of american freedom forged amid slavery and indigenous genecide? And then how were they challenged by the rise of industrial capitalism, and then provisionally reconciled through free real estate, first out west and then in the suburbs?
