The Narcissus Mythology

Narcissus accepted his fate. When he became too weak to stand after days and days of talking to himself, he could take some consolation in the fact that he would die with the one he loved, himself. He thought he heard an echo behind him saying, farewell, dear boy, who i loved in vain. Echo watched narcissus die and slowly be consumed by the earth. She would return to the spot occasionally to remember the boy. On the spot where he died, beautiful flowers had popped out of the ground. They would come to be known as narcissus owers and spread around the world to remind everyone of one foolish kid's pointless death and narcissism.
