I remember in 10th grade my AP US history teacher saying that in the 1960s after the civil rights act the party switched and I just had this image in my mind such a weird thing almost like a folk dancing image where there's like this Republican on one side and this Democrat on the other side they just took each other's hands and they just hopped over and switched. Even then I recognized how bizarre and inconceivable it was. They fought a civil war over these values and they like how does that even work? And so you don't realize you can't realize because you're so young you obviously weren't living then as much as we do today.
