The glass stegle act came out of the great depression, and it was its own form of breaking up the largest tions. In 19 99, with a what's called the graham lease act, that was ended, and both commercial banks and investment banks could join again. The next time we have a crisis, the largest banks, which also have investment banks, will be bailed out in pole. And so we need to rethink that. We need to think carefully about whether we want an ins institution that is so protected that it cannot fail or whether we want institutions that can take risk and can fail without the government having to intervene.
