Social Democratic Party in Germany - The Debt Break
The commitment of Social Democrats and also the Green Party in Germany to fiscal discipline was very strange, partly based on idiosyncratic German attitudes towards fiscal policy. The motivation was that they wanted to take the wins out of the sales of the Christian Democrats. And the debt break worsened all the sort of problems of the lack of German domestic demand and domestic investment. It essentially makes sure that the deficit in the end after the complicated procedure of calculating the deficit has to be zero at the communal level.
