I've Got 110, 115,000 Smackers. That's Your 30 Years, Right?
As of 2013, the median household approaching retirement only had $111,000 in 401k and IRA holdings. If you do what financial advisors suggest, you withdraw 4% a year, that creates less than $5,000 in annual income. For people going into retirement with usually something like 20 years to go, 110, 120, even 130,000 is no help at all to covering the costs they're going to be living with.
