First book of chronicles, chapter 17, god's covenant with David. Absalom fled and went to talmai, the son of amihud, king of gesher. And david mourned for his son day after day. So absalom fled and was there three years. The word of the lord came to nathan, go and tell my servantDavid,. Thus says the lord, you shall not build me a house to dwell in. But i will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and i will establish his kingdom. I will be his father, and he shall be my son.
