How Do We Use Probability?
There's been really a shift, I think, in the ways in which we use probability. Ronald Fisher was very vocally committed to eugenics and race science even after World War II. He still continued to advocate for scientific theories of racial difference. So you can see the sort of intellectual connection between this idea of probability and statistics being a tool for detecting group level difference.
