Field Books as Bordering Objects

Field books are difficult to manage because they're on the boundary of things ar there. If a staff member writes a field book as part of an expedition, it's treated as an institute nal record and so it's part of the institutional archives. But if an external collector donates material to the museum, including field books, that goes into the museums collection. It's tus to hilite these sort of histories of exchange that happen in institutions  and starts to provide that kind of evidence where this knowledge comes from.
