You Have Doubts, You Have Faith
Heschel came from seven generations of acitic gravi. Yet, as he was proclaiming this theology, that world of his fathers and grandfathers was being exterminated by a notism. I think the man who lost almost his entire family in the holocost must have been plagued by doubt as to god's presence in the world. And it struck me very much when he spoke to me that. He said, you have doubts. I do too. So there wasn't certainty available, but there was experience, and there was faith.
