In the late six s, in 19 seventies, as belgium becomes a properly federal state, that the previously unitary parties start to divide. So you have the genesis of a liberal flemish party and then a french peaking a liberal party. And at the same time, you also have the division of the socialist party into a flemish wing and into a french speaking wing.
