The book follows the eponomis character, martin dressler, from his time as a youth in new york city. One of the things that's so magical about this book is millhauser's amazing ability to capture a time and a place. So i just really millhauser, to me, he's so good at those little moments where he just perfectly captures a mood or a character's thoughts.
