The media more than any group devoted themselves to bringing down Trump's presidency they saw everything he did through a negative lens conspiratorial lens. The special counsel investigating Trump issued his report about possible conspiracy between Russian officials and the Trump campaign in 2016 but it made very clear that there was not some new you know smoking gun that had not been uncovered.
