Is There a Big Bang?

We think if you try to follow Einstein and extrapolate the universe down to a point, general relativity probably works. But nobody's ever seen that happen. So instead of an infinite universe with a tiny blob of matter in it, now imagine a tiny piece of space filled with energy and matter. And what's outside of that little space? We have no idea. Like seriously, we can't even imagine inconceivable.
