Is There a Chinese History of Comedy?
The range of different styles of comedy is so broad that it's really impossible to to narrow down. Stand up comedy emerged out of vaudeville, you can trace a line from nno bob hope through linney bruce, george carlan and richard pryor. Cross talk would be the most popular one - two people on stage going back and forth. And some of tyweny's early comedy developed out of that.
