Newton's Theology and Science

Newton writes far more about theology than he does about science. He's basically an aryan, which is a reference to a fourth century theological debate doubting the divinity of God's son. One of his pupils, Richard Bentley, delivers the first boil lecture in the 1690 set up by Robert Boyle as an attempt to use natural philosophy, science to counter the emerging strands of doubt and also against infidels and other religions. So you have this esoteric and kind of theologically heterodox dimension to Newton, which is very, very important to him. But you also have this scientifically influential dimension, which also has theological significance for him.
