Can You Double Positions That Aren't Doubles?

If you're playing a weak player, there are certain positions they do not understand. The more complicated you make the game, the bigger your edge. Jim Pasco used to love to put people into backgammon just because they played them so poorly. I think there may be possibilities to alter checker play to against weak players. And against a much stronger player, I would love to get into a race as much as possible.
