The History of Purple
purple was a sign of not just royalty but but riches i think this is where we get the term like royal blue or uh an old term about someone who was born in purple. The dye by which things were made purple was extracted from a snail it was like a sea snail that was harvested in shallow water and was extremely difficult to obtain. Anything that was purple anything was dyed purple was very very expensive so for instance roman emperors were the only ones who wore purple mannels.
