The Blueberry Revolution in Peru

Peru is now the largest blueberry exporter in the world, with more than a billion pounds worth sold overseas last year. Production has gone from virtually zero to nearly 300,000 tons in a little over a decade. Peruvian producers knew that blueberries were hard to harvest in the northern hemisphere between the months of August and December. As a result, they're starting to harvest year-round, and the industry now employs more than 100,000 people.
