How Do You Train to Be a Mentalist?

How do you train to be a mentalist? And how can people apply any of those trainings to their daily life? One of my favorite jokes is that a five year old could do exactly what i do with 25 years of practice. But my skill set is being really good on stage and leading the experience for three thousand people at a time. You don't necessarily have to have those skills in order toapply it in your own life.
