The Role of Social Contagion in Gender Dysphoria

Sally Kohn: The idea that gender dysphoria could be a result of social contagion, that's super volatile right now. I think it referenced to use the phrase social contagion. What is social contagion? How did it play a role in your story? And do you think that this is a factor in especially teenage females identifying as trans today? She says young girls are incredibly social and they naturally gravitate towards people who are psychologically going through very similar things to them.Kohn: They feel the pressure to identify with some kind of marginalized identity because it gets you socially ostracized.
