Carrying capacity is a search for a biological answer to social questions. How many people can different regions of the earth sustain? And that number has never been found. What carrying capacity does not and cannot get at is gross inequality between people in different regions, different areas or countries. The number of people on the planet doesn't drive how corporations behave. It also doesn't represent what governments do in terms of policy making. That plays a tremendous role m in actions that lead to climate change.
