What Caused the Extinct Plants to Go Extinct?

Most of the time we're really not sure what caused an organism to go extinct, unless it was known from just a single place and that place was destroyed. Oftentimes all we have is anobscure herbering specimen. That thing is clearly different. Not exactly sure where it was, but it hasn't been seen in 200 years, so we're pretty sure it's gon. Other times, there were a couple of species that were pretty broad ranging, and it probably was the death by the thousand cuts thing. And this brings up a real point of contention. Sometimes in the conservation community, do we work on like big landscape leval conservation, or sight specific conservation?
