The History of NHS Spending
Budget for the NHS in absolute terms has dramatically increased over its history. Almost all industrialised nations follow this pattern of greater expenditure on healthcare at the end of the 20th century. The only time that the UK has gone up to a level comparative with its peers is under the new labour years where Tony Blair was committed to boosting NHS spending. It does remain to be seen if those budget increases that the NHS enjoyed in the 2000s could return in the future.
