The counterculture has an important role to play. It does have a long legacy and it has shaped attitudes. If you take homosexuality, male homosexuality has been an issue in Britain since the 1950s. The underground press are lapping it up and they are propagating the message. They may not be initiating any of these great changes, but they are the conduit for how this stuff is spread.
