Are There Stereotypes in Medicine?
There's a lot of stereotypes in medicine, and I'm sure you guys experience this the same across the board. There was a certain type of person that people surmised would go into orthopedics. You should be pretty prepared for the fact that there are going to be times throughout your career that no one is going to make the assumption that you are the attending surgeon in the room. That bias is alive and well and that you need to have a very tough skin and a really sound sense of self in order to combat it every day.
