Hobo, Is It Raining?
From 1890 to 1910, 32,276 Hobos and tramps were killed on American railroads. To avoid detection, Bill often spent a whole trip riding the rods. More than one met death when a missed hold sent him under the wheels. They either died by falls or encounters with railroad bulls.
