The Importance of a Soft Heart

The fijar wars of the Quraysh are narrated before the Prophethood begins. The Prophet was probably around 18, 17, maybe even 15 when he began his life as a shepherd. When you begin in such a harsh manner, you will have a soft heart and you will appreciate the blessings of Allah. If all of this were to have been handed to him instantaneously, then he would not have had that appreciation that he had. Be good to the beggar, be good to the orphan. Even the next life will be better than this life.
