What Do You Think About Peasants?
The main thing is that you've got to humanise them. When the peasants rebelled in 1381, they didn't rebel by burning everything down and destroying things. The people buried in the churchyard at Warren Percy in Yorkshire, 68% of them had caries,. So they did have tooth decay, but much less than in modern populations. And it's a very strong statement really of an attitude towards their public place. They want to stand up for themselves as proper citizens if you like.
