The author says we can think relationally and solidaristically around gradations of debilitation. Disability is not something that becomes a kind of phenomenological experience of an individual body, she writes. The idea of the binary of disabled and able-bodied in and of itself often is more reinforcing of the concept of able-bodiedness than it is descriptive of what disability is or how it's instrumentalized.
