The History of the French Revolution
During the Revolution, nearly 20,000 French citizens were executed. During this time, Augustin Baroel's Memoirs Illustrating the History of Jacobanism was published. He denounced many Enlightenment ideas and blamed secret societies for bringing about the bloody Revolution. The last coup led in part by Napoleon Bonaparte brought the Revolution to an end in 1799. Even after the Revolution, France suffered many more turbulent years before finding peace.
