The Dig: A Look at the Economic Crisis and What Can Be Done About It

Every time there is an economic crisis a section of mainstream economics tries to scandalize its followers by saying, in fact, we can learn quite a bit here from Karl Marx. And this is not an insight as I think you just suggested with your mark about effective demand that's unique to to Marx. It's the sort of thing that Keynes was looking at as well. In fact, it's been a mainstay of a lot of the socialist movement. Perhaps most famously Trotsky said this 90 years after the manifesto: Did marks and angles fail to see how many provisional resolutions capitalism would manage to conjure up over time? Or maybe is it too soon to tell?
