The Importance of Being a Good Player
In those days, there was no such thing as homeschooling. So you're going to school till four o'clock wherever you are. This was obviously a huge advantage to get out of school at noon and be in Florida where I could play outside the rest of the day. Nick had the sort of vision to realize I'm not going to charge any of these top juniors to come. He got probably 10 of the top 20 kids in the nation to come to the Knicks. And basically we stayed at different coaches' houses in the beginning. In the end, it was me and nine girls.
