The Solitary Mind in Lovecraft
In the stories that there is this kind of cut off quality and, you know, if I have to choose which one of these nightmares that I'm going to live in. Lovecraft himself had very rich friendships and relationships but he was by no means a, a, youknow, even though he lived a lot of his life through letters. In academia my job is to be the Lovecraftian, the Lovecraftian school master. That's just how I am. Like, I'm already the alien anthropologist kind of describing how the thing works. So that's sort of my natural state.
