The scopes monkey trial is a massive media circus, ostensibly its fought over whether a book hunters civic biology can be used to teach in schools. It then becomes a massive cowsers belly from the fundamentalist in America who reject evolution. Now that spawned a movement that we're still very familiar with today. And it's very clear that that is a reaction against established science and it's completely untenable.
